Hard Candy Contest Win

Hey CMM&S fans!  Remember how I told you I won the giveaway from Hard Candy?  I wanted to say a big thank you to Hard Candy for the contest and for the amazing prize.  I feel very fortunate to have won this contest.  I enter many contests, but I was REALLY hoping to win this one, and lady luck was with me.  I wanted to show you what I won.  I won their entire newest collection of nail polishes.  There are 5 parts to the collection and 9 polishes in each.

This blog post is going to be super picture heavy and as I want to show you all that I received.  This collection is amazing!  The colours are gorgeous and I can't wait to wear them all.  The collection that I was looking most forward to was their Crushed Chromes collection.  I love metallic nail polish, and though I have only actually looked at the colours outside the bottle for almost all of these polishes, the colours are beautiful and varied.  There are a couple that are kind of close, but I will actually consider taking requests to do swatches based on the colours and colour names I'll be posting for you.

Each bottle of polish is a sturdy cylinder style bottle.  I like the design as I find they don't tip easy, even when I am pulling out the drawer of my plastic cabinet.  They retail at Walmart for $3.99 each and they are 7.8ML or 0.26FL OZ.  Compared to other brands I have used like China Glaze, these are actually a bit more expensive.  The bottles of China Glaze are 14ML or 0.5FL OZ and for their regular collection I can get these for $5.99 at my local Sally Beauty store with my Sally card, or $6.49 without.  However, I have to say, that I am already considering purchasing backups of the ones I think I will really like.  The whole collection is fun, imaginative and super colourful.  The collection is primarily made up of glitter type polishes, but they also have a metallic polish collection which was what really caught my eye at first.

The collection that really got me interested in the Hard Candy polishes is their Crushed Chromes collection.  I love metallic looking polishes, and I love the range of these colours.  I had seen some swatches on Crushed on Lava, and they look simply amazing.  The one that caught my eye first was the Crushed on Amethyst as Purple is my favourite colour.  Check out these beauties, they are just lovely.  I have only seen most of them in the bottle, but they just scream "put me on" when I look at them.  I will be trying each and every one of these polishes eventually, but I also want to let you know about application and wear, and I will do a "Swatch and Review" for each one eventually.  However, I have taken a picture that lists their names for you now in case you'd like to ask me any questions about them.

The next collection that caught my eye because it was so super bright and colourful and shimmery is the Itzy Glitzy collection.  These colours are lovely and when I opened the package it reminded me of a rainbow.  These are all lovely shimmer/glitter polishes.  I tried the yellow and orange very briefly, and they were not super obvious with one quick coat, but still pretty and shimmery.  These would be great layered over a similar colour, or built up if you have the patience.

The next collection that called out to me is their Candy Sprinkles collection.  The base of these is a milky colour in which there are little round glitters.  These are super cute and fun.  I think they're perfect for Spring with pastel shades and glitter peeking through.  While in my photo Sugar Rush an Jelly Bean Blue may look like duplicates, they are similar but not exact.  Jelly Bean Blue has blue glitter in it and Sugar Rush appears to have black glitter in it.

I haven't checked out any of this collection yet other than admiring them in the bottle, but the glitters are lovely in this one.  This collection is called Glitteratzi.  All of the colours are different, but they also have different glitters as well.  Some appear to have hex glitters and some appear to have little skinny bar glitters.  I'm not usually a fan of bar glitter, but these don't seem very large so I think I'll like these ones.  Fire Flash is much more orange than my pictures show.

And last, but certainly not least is the lovely Crystal Confetti Collection.  A glitter hound would certainly go crazy with this one, and for almost the whole Hard Candy collection even.  There are so many ways to mix and match these ones with not only the colours in this collection, but with all of your favourite nail polishes.  These will definitely give a sparkly kick to any manicure.  I will have to try these out soon.  Jubilee looks super interesting and I bet it would look great over my Color Club Wild Cactus.

So there you have it!  45 different nail polishes from Hard Candy.  Available at Walmart in Canada and US.  If there are any that you are interested in seeing, let me know by leaving a comment below and I will put it on my list to swatch and review.

Amazon.ca New Shopping Options

So who's all excited that Amazon.ca is starting to look a tiny bit more like Amazon.com?  Beauty, Household Products and more!  I love that they are finally starting to offer more stuff and I hope this is just the beginning.

I purchased rechargeable batteries from them recently, and while the chargers and batteries that came with them are great, the batteries I ordered to have even more backups did not hold a charge at all.  But, this was no problem at all with Amazon's super easy return policy.  Just file your request to return, pack it up and send it off with it's label.  I've had to return a few things to Amazon for various reasons and I have never had a problem with them.  In fact, I think I've had better customer service from Amazon than I've had through some brick and mortar retailers and other online stores including Walmart,ca where I had some trouble with the site and customer service.  You can read about that HERE if you wish.

Back to Amazon, I have to say that I am super excited to see that their offerings are getting bigger and more diverse.  I'm looking forward to what they will be offering for nail polish and nail art items as well as regular household supplies, beauty and health and personal care. If they sold toilet paper, and delivered it to my house for a great price, would I do it?  The answer to that is a huge, resounding yes.  What makes it even better is all of the gift cards I have earned through my various earning websites, they can be put toward buying body wash, skin care products, cleaning products, and other various household items that we use all the time.  I think this is a fabulous idea and I hope they get even more products soon.

So what do you think?  Would you buy your toiletries, makeup or household items off Amazon.ca?  I'd love to hear what you think.  Let me know why or why not or if you already purchased some things.

March 2013 Reward Site Stats

Hey CMM&S fans, time for my March 2013 Reward Site Earnings post, sorry this one is really late!

March was a pretty good month for me for some sites, and in others I really slacked off.  I find that I have been a lot busier at work, and in the evenings I'm wanting to spend more time with family, or checking out blogs rather than attempting surveys.  I still do my Casino Tasks every day if possible though.  I find that with so many sites, it is hard to keep up with them all.

I was actually lucky to get a 5% discount and ordered a $10.00 Amazon.ca gift card.  I wish they had the cheaper $5 Amazon.ca cards back, or lowered their PayPal prices, but it doesn't look like the $5 Amazon.ca card will be back any time soon.  At the end of March I had about 875HC earned from random searches, the Treasure Box and my excellent referrals.

No earnings here for me.  Again, this is one that I do infrequently.  I try to remember to log in daily and get my 1ZB as well as visit the ZDaily Homepage and search, but it's usually one of the last on my list and I forget, especially if I get busy or distracted.  Last month I cashed out for $10 and was up to 158ZB.  For March I got up to 325ZB, so as you can see I don't really do much here at all.  I could do more as their tasks are actually reasonably priced.

Oh PrizeZombie, how I miss PZTV.  Not much doing here I'm afraid.  I have a couple referrals who are still active here.  As of the end of March I had 1300SL.  I am saving up for a $25.00 card so that I can have the "Family Discount" here.  I am hoping they bring back PZTV eventually.

I have actually forgotten about adding this one to the list.  This is another site I use occasionally.  I try to log in daily and get my 5 points from visiting the offers.  I also enter their Promo Codes and search occasionally.  I do have one very active referral that has been helping me out greatly with this site.  Every search they get, you get matching points up to 3,000 points.  I am up to 2,000 points as of the end of March.

Another occasional site I use.  When I remember to log in, I do the DiDi Daily Print 2 Coupons-VIP ONLY offer as well as the 0.001 point video on TV and the Virool videos.  This site is the only one I've found that still offers 1 full point per Virool video.  Other sites like PrizeZombie are offering 0.5 points per video.  I used to use this site regularly when they allowed you to do Casino Tasks and build up bonus bars for an extra 25 points per 10 offers over 3 points or more.  I do have one referral there that does a few things and I earn 12% of what they earn.  As of the end of March I had 300 points.

Swagbucks really is one of the best earning sites out there.  It has a lot of variety and it has decent payouts for offers and surveys.  Not the best mind you, but because they offer lots of ways to earn easy points daily by Searching, SBTV and Games, they're an excellent site for those that just want to stick with one earning website.  This month I earned my 5 x $5 Amazon.ca and I redeemed for 2 x $25 PayPal gift cards.  March was pretty good to me, and at the end of March I had enough to order 3 of my $5 Amazon.ca cards for April and almost enough for 4.

Definitely not as good as January again, but still a decent month for earnings.  However I miss being able to do SSI surveys more often.  Unfortunately SSI surveys run out rather quickly and disappear by the time I am finished work.  If I can't get to them early in the day, then they're gone.  This is very unfortunate since SSI surveys definitely helped boost my earnings.  I have also been pretty busy lately, and not spending as much time doing surveys every day so my earnings dropped a bit.  In total I earned $82.28 this month.  That includes $6.38 that I earned from my awesome referrals.  Bit better than February, but only because technically I got an extra payment period.

So for ease of use, for later, here is the breakdown of my earnings for February 2013:

ClixSense: $79.31 PayPal
Swagbucks: $25.00 Amazon.ca and $50 PayPal
GiftHulk: $10.00
PrizeZombie: $0.00
Zoombucks: $0.00
CantBeatFree: $0.00
iRazoo: $0.00

Total = $164.31

Last month I earned $129.31 and in January I earned $239.51.

Please leave your earnings in the comments with your name so we can keep track at the end of the year what we earned!  If you're just joining me with tracking your reward earnings you can also go back to January and February and leave me a comment with your reward earnings!

Woolzies Dryer Balls Review and Giveaway

Hey CMM&S fans!  As I've stated before, laundry is one of my least favourite chores.  The washing and drying is fine, but when it comes to folding laundry, I am a menace.  Really, my folding looks like it was done by a two year old that decided to play with the clothes.  It seems like I'm all thumbs, especially when I'm trying to fold a t-shirt that is full of wrinkles and static.  I have tried fabric softeners like Snuggle, those dryer sheets that literally make my skin crawl when I touch them because the fabric just feels "wrong", but I have been trying to use more natural products and save energy in our home.

I was really excited to be given the opportunity to try out Woolzies Dryer Balls.  The company that sells Woolzies is Soft by Nature, Inc, a family owned company in Hudson Valley region of Southern New York State.  The product itself is made in Nepal, but you can find out more information about Woolzies on their webpage by clicking on the link above.  Woolzies has been doing Blogger reach-outs where they send the Blogger their product to test and review.  I received the dryer balls in the mail last week, and I've since used them for all of my laundry.

What are Woolzies Dryer Balls?

Woolzies are wool balls that are handmade from New Zealand wool.  They are free of chemicals and dyes and will not fall apart in your dryer.  The dryer balls are about the size of a tennis ball or perhaps bigger.  Since they are handmade, the dryer balls may vary in size, colour in texture.

You get six of these in the one box and according to the manufacturer, you can use the six dryer balls for either a small, medium or large load.  They recommend if you do extra large loads to use eight.  Once finished with the laundry, I just toss them back into the dryer and let them stay there, so that makes for easy storage and this way I'll never forget to add them to my load like I used to do with the dryer sheets.

They're soft, yet firm and very fuzzy.  I'm a tactile person, I feel the need to reach out and touch everything to see what it feels like.  As I mentioned with the dryer sheets, I can't stand how those feel so if possible I made my husband put the dryer sheet in.  As weird as you may think it is, I absolutely love the feel of these dryer balls on my hands, so that was a big plus in their favour.  I'm not sure that I'd like to wear clothes made out of these as it might be itchy, but at least my first reaction wasn't that they felt awful.  For those of you that may have an allergy to wool, Woolzies states that these are perfectly safe as they don't normally come into contact with your skin and don't shed.

Woolzies makes a few claims regarding to what their dryer balls do:
  • Reduce drying time by an average of 25% and thereby reduce energy used
  • Reduce static
  • Reduce wrinkles
  • Soften clothes
  • Last 1,000 loads
Woolzies bounce around in your dryer, they naturally separate and create space between your laundry, thereby allowing the hot dryer air to circulate better and subsequently cutting down on drying time by about 25% in large loads and as much as 35-40% in small loads. This of course saves both time and money for you and energy for the environment.

Do Woolzies reduce drying time?

I decided my very first test for Woolzies was to find out if they really did help my laundry dry faster.  We have a huge comforter that we use on our bed that is literally a load in itself.  Sometimes if it gets wrapped around the centre column just the right way, the whole washing machine goes into spaz mode and tries to dance away from the wall.  Our dryer is a little larger inside, so not too many problems there, but it takes forever to dry as the comforter is huge.  I usually run the cycle for 60 minutes and then have to run it for another 30 minutes.  After 60 minutes it needed a little bit longer, so I put it in for another 15 minutes and it was done.  It reduced the drying time of my large comforter by 15 minutes.  My smaller loads of clothes were done about 10 minutes faster as well.

Do Woolzies reduce static and wrinkles and make your clothes softer?

I say yes to all three.  When doing my laundry, I did not add in Snuggle, and instead just let the dryer balls do their magic.  One of the loads was a fuzzy blanket that always comes out with at least a bit of static, and this time there was none.  My clothes were not wrinkled and everything felt soft.  I actually paired my Woolzies dryer balls with my Nellie's All-Natural Laundry soda and everything came out clean, soft and static free.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the dryer balls.  I think they happen to live up to their claims and I especially like how they are natural and handmade.  They also didn't make a lot of noise in the dryer either like I originally thought they might.

A set of 6 Woolzies sell for $34.95 and shipping to Canada is $6.95 for a total of $41.95.  They do ship Worldwide though.  If they last for 1,000 loads, the cost of them works out to just over $0.04 per load.  I'd consider that a worthy investment considering they really do reduce the drying time of your laundry unlike regular fabric softeners which just work to reduce static and soften clothes.  With Woolzies you get more for your money, and while the initial investment may seem a lot, the long-term savings are worth it.  You can purchase them directly at the Woolzies website HERE

But, one of my lucky fans will also get their own set of Woolzies!  They have kindly sponsored a giveaway here at CMM&S that is open Worldwide!  All of my fans at CMM&S are eligible to enter.  The contest will be by Rafflecopter entry, and the winner will be randomly chosen at the end of the contest term.  Please be sure to read all of the contest terms and conditions below.

This product was provided for review by the manufacturer.  All opinions on this blog are my own and were in no way influenced by the manufacturer.  For more on my disclosure policy, please check out my About Me page.

Instructions how to get your Facebook post link:

Once it's posted, click "Posts by Others" and then under your comment it will show "1 minute ago" or whatever time, then right click on that post and choose "Copy Link Location". Then post that link in the Rafflecopter.
