GiftHulk Amazon.ca Changes

Good morning everyone.

With GiftHulk removing the $5 Amazon.ca GC from their store, they noted they would be attempting to get in the $10 Amazon.ca GC for a better price. While their has been no further announcements regarding this, I checked the store today and noted they now offer $10, $20 and $30 Amazon.ca GC's.

Their prices are:
$10 - 1129HC (112.9HC per $1)
$20 - 2199HC (109.95HC per $1)
$30 - 3149HC (104.96HC per $1)

This is a vast difference between the price we were offered before for the $5 Amazon.ca GC.  Previously GiftHulk offered the $5 Amazon.ca GC for a mere 439HC (87.8 per $1), making the site have one of the best redemption rates.  Only CantBeatFree was better if you are a VIP member.

The new prices are in-line with their higher Amazon.com offerings, however the prices now are so vastly different, that it is much less rewarding to redeem.

GiftHulk has now dropped behind CantBeatFree, Swagbucks, Zoombucks and even the new kid on the block PrizeZombie for redemption rates.  One of their biggest draws was the great rate of 439HC per $5 Amazon card as well as unlimited redemptions and the possibility of a store discount.

They are also not allowing Canadians to redeem for the $5 Amazon.com GC, impacting many Canadian users who preferred the Amazon.com GC's.

While they state that the $5 Amazon.ca GC may be returning in 2013, it is not a certainty.  It appears they are pulling away from their Canadian users as there is very little offerings for us there.  With the jump in redemption cost, any bonus received from "Boosts" and "Store discounts" is greatly negated by how little is offered for Canadians, especially with the lower payouts on many offers and surveys compared to other sites.

I have always found their offer payouts lower than other sites, but depending on what was available I chose to do my offers here because of the unlimited $5 Amazon.ca GC.  I am hoping that GiftHulk is true to their word and the cheaper $5 Amazon.ca GC will return in the new year.  However their changing the rates so unexpectedly gives me little confidence that it will be so.  Especially since doing this before Christmas will impact those that rely on these kinds of sites for an extra little boost to help purchase gifts.  And the way it was handled, doing it without any warning whatsoever, which greatly devalued any points that people were holding onto in hopes for a store discount...has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I understand that there may be circumstances we don't know or understand, but I feel let down, and it will be difficult for them to gain my trust back.

GiftHulk Changes for Canadians

Hey GiftHulk fans.  If you haven't heard the news already, there is some bad news out there for GiftHulk fans that like to redeem for the $5 Amazon.ca.  As of immediately, the $5 Amazon.ca GC is no longer available and there has been no reduction in the $15, $30 or $60 Amazon.ca GCs.

I personally have really enjoyed GiftHulk, as I earn enough points for a $5 Amazon.ca card every couple of weeks.  Now that this option is no longer available, the points are over 100 points per $1 instead of the 87.8 points it was with the $5.00 Amazon.ca.  While it's not a "huge" amount, it still adds up, especially since Canadians are left out of earning opportunities like regular videos and GiftHulk TV.

This is the direct message from GiftHulk on Facebook:

"As of lately, there will be no $5 Amazon.ca gift card available at the GiftHulk Store.
Please notice that $15/$30/60 Amazon.ca Gift Cards are staying at the GiftHulk Store!
Also, you can redeem PayPal Gift

Cards of any denomination.

This follows our recent changes in inner policies in working with Amazon.ca and that we no longer have any type of discount in purchasing the Amazon.ca Gift Cards of $5 value. We are sorry for the inconvenience!

We are working on fixing this issue, hopefully the $5 Amazon.ca gift card will be back in the GiftHulk Store at the start of 2013!"

GiftHulk TV

Hey GiftHulk fans!  There is a new feature that GiftHulk is testing right now, GiftHulk TV!  If you're a member of SB, it's the same sort of idea.  For every 10 videos, you get 2 HC.  While this may not seem like a lot, it does help to get your points up there if you have the time.

GiftHulk TV is currently in Beta Phase and available only to Canadian GiftHulkers.  If you click the "Earn" button at the top of the page, you'll see the dropdown of available ways to earn and GiftHulk TV is the bottom listing.  Click on it, and it will bring you to their special page.  You will see a message there stating "To watch GiftHulk TV and earn awesome prizes you must log in" and then you will see a Connect to Facebook button.  Click this and log in through Facebook to have access to GiftHulk TV.

To fill the progress meter, you need to watch new videos.  Watching videos you previously watched before will not count towards your progress meter.  You will also need to watch the complete video to get credit.

Just from the short time I've been using it, I've noticed that after you finish a video, another video comes up and plays, but it doesn't count towards your progress meter.   At this time there isn't a way to click "Next Video" without going to "Related Videos" underneath, or going back to the list you choose and then choosing the next video.  If you click the "Related Videos", it takes you to a whole different section.

If you're like me, you like to be able to just click the next video, as this is simple and easy.  The way it stands now, it's a little difficult to keep track of where you are, especially if they add new videos frequently.  What I have been doing is clicking the section that I'm watching which currently is "Entertainment" and the "E!" section, so it takes a lot of extra time to keep watching the videos in order so you can keep track.  I would much prefer to use it if they had the bar underneath like they do before you choose a new video as a permanent feature, just like SB, that would be great.  I would also like to see a "Pop-up" version like the Toolbar SBTV so that you can have it to the side of whatever else you're working on, and then just click the next video.

I have noticed that GHTV has seemed to slow down my computer considerably.  I am a notorious multitasker with no less than about 5 or 6 different pages at a time, like Facebook, Hotmail, Blog, SP, GH, SB, etc.  Before opening GHTV I had no problems going in between pages, even on my slower work computer.  As soon as GHTV started loading, the speed went right down, and even as I'm typing I'm noticing a lag.  Hopefully this is something they can address as I don't have the same issues with SBTV.

One of your fellow fans, Kate Staffleitner noted that currently the maximum rounds of GiftHulk TV is 5, earning you 10 HC.  This could be only for Beta, or could be permanent.  There doesn't seem to be anywhere that confirms what the daily maximum is, but Kate got through 5 rounds (50 videos) and was told to come back tomorrow.  I want to send a special thank you to Kate for the head's up on GHTV and for telling me about the maximum daily for now.

If you have any suggestions, or encounter an problems with GHTV, GiftHulk wants to hear from you:
"If you experience any bugs/inconvenience or just want to suggest us something about GiftHulk TV - feel free to contact us!  You can do that at our Facebook page, tweet @GiftHulk, submit a Support Ticket (http://www.gifthulk.com/support/) or send us an e-mail via a Contact Form (http://www.gifthulk.com/contact-us/)!"
